I bought this Ammolite stone at a gem show that had come to town. I was very excited when I saw their ads. When I got there my heart sank just a little at the prices. They weren’t bad, I just didn’t have that much money at the time. I bought this, a strand of small labrodorite beads, and some blue tiger eye beads.
The flash of coppery reds this stone has when the light hits it is why I bought it. Sadly I didn’t realize until after I had got it home that it was broken and they had globbed glue on the back to hold it together.
I was bummed, but mostly at my self for not paying better attention.
It sat in its little container for nearly a year before I decided to do anything with it. I was worried about it completely coming apart.
It didn’t. I picked off the big glob of glue and it still stayed together.
I carefully wrapped it in some oxidized copper, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite wires to work with. I think it came out nicely.
Since the stone is broken I do have to keep it for myself. I know that sucks for you, but if you would like a piece of Ammolite jewelry, you can talk to me about a custom order.
