The Morrigan Speaks, playing with oxidized copper

by Delisa on August 16, 2011

This is the bare stone after I stripped it of its former cage. I didn’t like the wrap I have given it years and years ago. A stone this delicious deserved something better.

This is the finished pendant. It is dark and mysterious. The flash is hard to catch. It hides in the dark depths of the stone waiting for the light to shine just right. The oxidized copper has an ancient feel to it.

It isn’t sparkly and I love it.

The only down side of working with oxidized metals is that my hands are filthy. I don’t mind that much. I don’t find anything wrong with getting dirty.

This pendant will not be for sale. It is just for me. You’ll just have to deal.

I didn’t sketch out any designs or ideas for this pendant. I never do. I like to get a feel for the stone. I know that sounds like some New Age woowoo, but it is what works for me. I spend some time with the stone, take it out on a date. Do a little wine & dine.

Seriously though, every stone has its own energy pattern and will tell you just what it wants if you listen.

I let the stone tell me what kind of home it wants to live in. Sometimes they ask for other stones or beads to be added sometimes they don’t. If the wire work doesn’t feel right I’ll take it off and start again.

I am also totally addicted to spirals. I will put spirals on anything. lol.

Now you know the big secret to my jewelry making, listening to stones. It’s only a little bit of crazy ;)
