I have been neglecting this blog a bit, which is to say, I have been neglecting the studio a bit.

I have been trying to figure out what I wanted to do here and how it fit together with my other sites and businesses. With the help of a great coach, I think I have it figured out.

I don’t make just one thing. This site can’t be about just one thing. Even when I’m making things that aren’t for sale.

With that in mind I want to share what I have been working on.

Yummy Yarn from Knitpicks

I ordered a box full of Brava yarn from Knitpicks. It looks so good, doesn’t it? This box-o-delight lead to this 100% wool hat in the Bonfire colorway.

Bonfire Hat

This was meant to be for me, but I don’t like the way it looks on me. My friend loves it and it will be hers instead. I’m working on an different hat for myself. Hopefully it works out. I have no idea what I will be doing with the rest of the yarn yet. It may turn into gifts or things for the studio’s Etsy shop.

By the way, if I have forgotten to tell you all the jewelry in the Etsy shop is 50% off. Use coupon code sweet50. I have sold a few pieces already!

I have also been doing some art journaling which I talk about on the Creativity Rebellion site.

I’m working on a new painting that I think will end up for sale. Here is a sneak peak:

faery hearts

She is far from being finished. I’m not sure at this point if I will mount it to canvas or not. I will be ordering a test print to see if she will make good prints for sale.

I just learned how to make these awesome little gift boxes out of scrapbooking paper. I wasn’t really diggin’ the jewelry boxes I was using before.

From now on all jewelry comes in one of these little boxes!

Scrapbook paper gift boxes

I hand fold each one. I use different scrapbook papers that I feel reflect the vibe of my jewelry.

I have also been working on rewriting my jewelry descriptions to give you a better idea of each pieces energy. I’ll admit that it has been awhile since I was excited about my jewelry, but after working so hard on other projects, I feel renewed and energetic again.

I’m also shopping for a new look for my etsy shop since I will be adding paintings, prints, and maybe some other handmade items to it. I’m moving toward something new and I think it is going to be good. I make so many different sorts of things that it seems silly to have a bunch of different sites and shops.

I want to be able to share whatever I make with you when ever I make it.

I have been working on some new art pieces! Spiraling Elements Studio started out as the lasted renaming of my jewelry business. At the time I also had envisioned a place for me to share all of my work. I don’t want to have a separate website for each type of art or craft that I make.

I’ve tried it. It is insane.

I already have a soap blog and The Creativity Rebellion site. The purpose of the soap site is obvious. The Rebellion focuses on creativity coaching (I don’t like that term). I do art things there, but it isn’t about my art. It is about helping others make their art. It also has been over run by faeries.

The studio is more about my art and sharing the pieces I making and selling. I don’t sell art work from the Rebellion. I probably post about non art or craft things that don’t fit over at the rebellion. We’ll see how it goes.

Anyways

Here is my newest piece: The Whispered Girl

The Whispered Girl

The wind caressed her face

Twisting twirling in her hair

Licking whispered words

Across her ear

Secret longings wrapped

Tightly around her soul

This isn’t the best pic. I took it with my phone because my camera is on the blink. This is the second painting I’m working on. The first one called The Sunken Girl is posted at the Rebellion.

This is a re-posting of an earlier article.

I have owned The Faeries’ Oracle by Brian Froud for a few years now. It wasn’t the first tarot or divination deck I owed. It did instantly become my favorite. The art work is beautiful and the card definitions are wonderful, but that isn’t why I fell in love with it. The beings represented by the cards are very easy for me to connect to and understand. I can give my best readings using these cards.

In the book for this deck, it asks you to pick the card that appeals to you the most and the one that appeals to you the least. I had never really thought of doing this with any deck before. I’m not sure why. It sounds like a great way to begin making a connection with whatever deck you are using.

I had no trouble choosing a card. The card that appeals to me the most is also the one that bothers me the most. I am so drawn to this card, this being, that it haunts me. Now, some of you may be thinking that I’m just being dramatic or crazy.

I can tell you with total certainty that I am not being dramatic. Ok, maybe just a little.

The card is number 17, Himself. His stare is intense. He looks like he may jump out and grab me at any moment. Is it the talent of the artist that has captured this being so powerfully?

I can’t keep my eyes off of him whenever this card turns up, nor can I look directly at it for more than a few seconds. I have never in my life been so affected by anything. It is a totally new and odd feeling for me. Years of working with these cards has not lessened the effect any either. It is almost as if he wants something from me. I have no idea what it could be.

I do realize how silly or crazy this may sound to some of you.

I thought it would be good to share this experience. If anyone else is having or has had a similar experience, I would love to hear about it. I know there is nothing special about the card itself. It is just a piece of paper. Still, why does this card have such a powerful affect on me? Right now the card is leaning against my laptop screen. I keep pausing to look at him.

There is something he is trying to tell me but I have no clue what it is.

When I went to bed the first night after picking this card from the deck, I placed it under my pillow. I am used to having wild, weird, emotionally charged dreams, but it was different that night. I wish I could tell you about that dream in some detail. It was too long ago. I can tell you that I dreamed of Him.

The dream bothered me so much that I have been too chicken to try it again. I have thought about it though. This faerie has something to tell me, something that I need to discover or learn. I will have to be brave and spend some time with Him.

Has anyone else ever had an experience like this, with Faeries’ Oracle or another deck? Have the faeries make an impact on you in some other way? If you have a story like this to share, I would really like to talk with you and share your story with my other readers.

I making changes. If you have ever been here before you notices.

You might be thinking, “What is up with that weird header?” or “I thought this was a jewelry website.” or both.

I needed an outlet for all thing woowoo things I do, even though I’m not a huge fan of the word. We’ll talk about why I’m using that word in a minute. I have another website for my coaching/consulting biz. Things like tarot reading or energy work don’t have a place on that site, even though they are a behind the scenes part of that business.

The woo was trying to creep in and take over. I tried to journal it all out, but I really wanted to share my experiences with others.

I decided to do it here. The domain name already fits. The practical, paranormal, metaphysical and whatever will spiral together here.

This is a big step for me. This is something that I have been keeping on the down low, but not really hidden. I have no idea where this will lead, but hopefully I wall gain a better understanding of this path I am on.

This is a journey are you ready?

And yes, there still will be jewelry. It will be a little more metaphysical and energy work oriented though.

I bought this Ammolite stone at a gem show that had come to town. I was very excited when I saw their ads. When I got there my heart sank just a little at the prices. They weren’t bad, I just didn’t have that much money at the time. I bought this, a strand of small labrodorite beads, and some blue tiger eye beads.

The flash of coppery reds this stone has when the light hits it is why I bought it. Sadly I didn’t realize until after I had got it home that it was broken and they had globbed glue on the back to hold it together.

I was bummed, but mostly at my self for not paying better attention.

It sat in its little container for nearly a year before I decided to do anything with it. I was worried about it completely coming apart.

It didn’t. I picked off the big glob of glue and it still stayed together.

I carefully wrapped it in some oxidized copper, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite wires to work with. I think it came out nicely.

Since the stone is broken I do have to keep it for myself. I know that sucks for you, but if you would like a piece of Ammolite jewelry, you can talk to me about a custom order.

Cuz I needed another website like I needed another hole in my head.

I have been going back and forth on starting a site for my jewelry making and things like that. I tried having everything crammed on the Creativity Rebellion site and it didn’t seem to be working well. It felt overwhelming and confusing.

I will be posting some jewelry stuff and probably knitting and crocheting stuff. Maybe some other craft things.

When I started the Rebellion site I had pictured it being a little more crafty, but it wants to move in another direction and I want to see where that leads.

I don’t have a big plan in place for this site at the moment. I was paying for the domain and figured I had bettered to something with it. In the very least it will be another place for me to express myself.

Jewelry making an I have an on again off again love affair.

I love working with stones and crystals. (ooh, my woo is showing) I visualize finished pieces of jewelry every time I look at any bit of any think that can have wire wrapped around it.

It is a very expensive hobby. I have struggled with selling my finished work. I think this is due from going about the whole process the wrong way.

At one point I was in it just for the money and I allowed that to suck all the joy out of creating. At the same time I can’t stop thinking about making more jewelry!

Somewhere in this madness there has to be some kind of happy medium. The sweet spot where I make jewelry that I love and that people buy.
